Rotary Mechancial – a Smartphone Concept by Wellington, New Zealand based designer Richard Clarkson. The rotary mechanical smartphone is based on the idea of incorporating more feeling and life into our everyday digital objects. The phone is designed to have its electronics modularly replaced as new technology becomes available, thus helping to reduce or even eliminate digital rot.

Richard is a Masters Candidate Industrial design student studying at Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) in New Zealand but grew up in the country side of Hawkes Bay. He’s mainly biased in product design but with interests in furniture, photography, sustainability, jewellery and fashion.
