Directed by Darcy Prendergast. Rippled, which is animated light painting. 6 months in the making, and 3 years after the Guggenheim shortlisted ‘Lucky’ was made, we’ve released our new project, again in conjunction with Melbourne musicians- All India Radio. The piece is all shot in camera, frame by frame, by real people, in the real world, using long exposure techniques.

Tilt shift photography is the use of camera movements on small- and medium-format cameras, and sometimes specifically refers to the use of tilt for selective focus, often for simulating a miniature scene. The photography trick using selective focus to mimic the look of miniatures is still very popular. Tilt Shift photographer Ben Thomas is known for his Cityshrinkers series of international cities. Here’s his tilt-shift series with Paris, Berlin, London, Tokyo, Melbourne, Sydney and Kobe. Ben is based in Melbourne, Australia.

As a student at the Ontario College of Art in 1976, Mark Summers was introduced to scratchboard by the revered political cartoonist Duncan Macpherson. Soon after graduation, he began circulating his portfolio of portraits. His big break came with a portrait of Douglas McArthur from the New York Times Book Review, and he hasn’t stopped working since. Mark’s engravings in scratchboard have garnered numerous awards. Mark is based in Waterdown, Ontario, Canada.

We’ve always thought Chinese minority cultures are a big potential source of creative inspiration, so we were happy to share with everyone a series of gorgeous illustrations from Kunming-based illustrator Su Yani. Su Yani is part of the Lahu ethnic minority and you can see that influence in her bright and beautiful work.

Ten Lohuis graduated from the visual arts academy Willem de Kooning in 2009 with a degree in illustration and a minor in painting. But he also has a great interest for animation and graphic design.

Currently he’m working as a freelance illustrator and has his own company in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and he thinks Rotterdam is one of the most interesting cities in Holland, with it’s mix of many nationalities and a big range from modern to historical architecture. This city never stops surprising him and it’s a great source of inspiration for his work.
